Important Message

The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program provides a one-time benefit to income-eligible Crawford, Marion, and Morrow County residents to assist with an electric bill, and/or may provide a fan and/or an air conditioner. The program runs from July 1st, 2025 through September 30, 2025.

  • Important Notice: Summer Crisis Appointments

 

  • We strongly encourage you to schedule an in-person appointment for your Summer Crisis assistance due to the launch of a new system starting July 1.

 

  • Please note: If you are eligible for an air conditioner and/or fan, an in-person appointment is required---this cannot be completed remotely.

 

  • If you are receiving an air-conditioner and/or fan, please have someone come with you to help load it in your vehicle as our staff will not be available to assist with loading.

 

  • As we transition to the new system, you may experience longer wait times. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Thank you!

Who is eligible for the Summer Crisis Program.

To qualify for assistance, Ohioans must have a gross income at or below 175 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for a family of up to eight members, and 60 percent of the State Median Income for a family of nine or more members.and must meet at least one additional eligibility criteria listed below:

  • Households whose electric has been disconnected, are in threat of disconnection, or a new service is being established
  • Households with a household member who is age 60 or older
  • Individuals with documented medical condition who can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for their health

Please submit the following documents with your application (photocopies are acceptable):

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship for all household members.
  • Identification of primary applicant.
  • Social Security numbers for all household members.
  • Rent receipt or lease agreement if renting.
  • Most recent gas and electric bills.
  • Proof of all income received in the last 30 days for household members 18 or older.
